Virginia’s Hospice Foundation
Virginia’s Hospice has a charitable arm, the Virginia’s Hospice Foundation. This is funded by donations from patients, family members, and their loved ones. 100% of proceeds go towards our “Bucket List” program, supporting patients’ end of life goals and wishes. If you currently have a loved one on service with Virginia’s Hospice, and would like to learn more about our Bucket List program, please call our main office (936-856-6888).
Virginia’s Hospice has an active and thriving volunteer program that help to additionally serve our patients and their needs. Volunteers are often family members of patients, family of a Virginia’s Hospice team member, and even nursing students. Volunteer activities include, but are not limited to:
- Support for patients – This can include making patient visits, reading, writing letters, bringing in music, supervising visits with pets, even massage therapy for volunteers with the necessary skills.
- Respite and support for family members – Volunteers can assist with shopping or household maintenance, or allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands and get some time away from the house. Family members also appreciate a visit from a compassionate friend who understands what they are going through.
- Administrative work – A volunteer with clerical skills can serve a hospice by helping in the office with simple administrative duties. Fundraising responsibilities can range from preparing mailings or thank you letters to organizing fundraising events and contacting possible donors.
For more information on how to get involved, please call our main office (936-856-6888) and ask for Jude Sivcoski, our Volunteer Program Coordinator. You may also e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
